Terms of Service
Effective April 6, 2026. These terms describe what CalmCheck is, what it is not, and the rules for using the product.
What CalmCheck is
CalmCheck is a consumer software product that accepts symptom text, applies a server-side safety gate for obvious red flags, and returns either an AI-generated or local fallback explanation designed to reduce health-anxiety spirals.
What CalmCheck is not
CalmCheck is provided for educational and anxiety-reduction purposes only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition and is not a substitute for professional evaluation.
Emergency situations
If symptoms feel severe, rapidly worsen, or seem like a medical emergency, do not rely on CalmCheck. Seek emergency care or call emergency services immediately.
If you are in the United States and believe you are having an emergency, call 911. If you are thinking about self-harm or suicide, contact emergency services or immediate crisis support in your area.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for how you use CalmCheck and for any decisions you make based on the information shown in the product.
- Use the product as a support tool, not as definitive medical advice.
- Seek licensed medical care when symptoms are severe, persistent, unusual, or worrying.
- Protect your own Google account and device access.
- Do not enter information on behalf of someone else unless you have the right to do so.
Accounts
If you use Google federated sign-in, you are responsible for the security of your Google account and for any activity that occurs while you are signed in to CalmCheck.
Third-party services
CalmCheck depends on third-party providers for hosting, database storage, Google sign-in, non-emergency AI response generation, and optional voice narration. If those services are unavailable, degraded, or changed, parts of CalmCheck may stop working or may fall back to simpler behavior.
Availability
CalmCheck may change, be interrupted, or be unavailable at any time. Features such as AI responses and Google sign-in depend on third-party services.
HIPAA-related deployment
If CalmCheck is deployed for HIPAA-regulated workflows, you remain responsible for ensuring that the required agreements, internal controls, and operational safeguards are in place. Product code changes alone do not constitute legal certification.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse CalmCheck to harass, abuse, or impersonate others.
- Do not attempt to interfere with the service or its security.
- Do not treat CalmCheck as emergency medical infrastructure.
- Do not misrepresent CalmCheck results as a physician's diagnosis.
No warranty
CalmCheck is provided on an “as is” basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. No guarantee is made that the product will always be accurate, complete, or available.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CalmCheck and its operators are not liable for damages arising from your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the product. This includes situations where you delay, avoid, or substitute professional medical care based on what CalmCheck says.
